Be gay: coming out, sexual orientation

Friday June 6 2008

Here's what can be read in the first part of a series of eight leaflets on the health of homosexual men published by the CRIPS.

It is devoted to sexual orientation and coming out. He responds, for example, these issues quite legitimate and ideas just waiting to be dismantled to feel good, feel gay.

Are we obliged to say that you are gay?

Why the confusion between HIV and homosexuality?

I am gay, attracted but I am not crazy and frankly, I do not recognize myself in the image of consumer sexual sticking to the skin of gays.

A second part deals with the discovery of his homosexuality, whether adult and adolescent. The brochure lays the foundations for a personal reflection on the felt (strong emotions, friendship, physical attraction or love tested when the choices are occurring in adolescence) and the guilt, fear of talking to his wife , Fear not review her children ....

Future issues will focus on sexually transmitted infections, the announcement of HIV, medical advice to patients and doctors, drugs, relations between the couple and domestic violence.

Municipal Orleans in 2008: candidates answer questions LGBT

Tuesday 26 February 2008

Under the municipal campaign in Orleans, two members of the Board of Gagli went to meet Mr Serge GROUARD and Jean-Pierre Sueur, to present the gay health project in 2008 and seek their position on LGBT issues.

orleans

Serge Grouard INTERVIEW WITH MR SERGE GROUARD - 22 February 2008

Gagli - Mr GROUARD, what is your position on the PACS improved, marriage and adoption?

SG - I have no problem with the marriage, I have a reservation with the adoption of children. I have a strong sensitivity to children. The child is sacred. If the company was
tolerant, it should pose no problem. But, for example, in the playground, if a child has two dads or two moms is a victim of ridicule of his comrades, I would not want it back in tears.
You will tell me, against argument, that in some families children are not treated better.
You know, I have a liberal position. In society, things change but I think it must be done within a certain time. For now, I pay attention to the reactions that it engenders.

Gagli - What actions against homophobia (in everyday life, work, ...) and discrimination will lead you in Orleans if you are elected?

SG - Homophobia, discrimination, to me is unbearable. Unacceptable. The city of Orleans already fight against discrimination especially for Schools and access to employment and internships. We have established a platform that allows to link employers, entrepreneurs to hire young people from the Source, for example for major district.
As part of the future home of employment, there will be a place for the fight against homophobia and discrimination.

Gagli - How and what role for the city in the prevention of sexually transmitted infections, AIDS and hepatitis?

SG - For me, it is important that a city is interested in the health of its inhabitants. Some argue that public health it is not within the competence of a city. I think the opposite and we will work including the creation of two "medical homes". But you, what you need is a specific room for your health actions gay. I'm ready to get into the project and find you a room or to supplement the budget to rent one.

Jean Pierre sweat Interview with Jean-Pierre Sueur - 25 February 2008

Gagli - Mr SUEUR, what is your position on the PACS improved, marriage and adoption?

JPS - I will not say that a few years ago but changing minds to move towards recognition. We happen to the same rights for homosexual couples, this is already happening in other European countries. Everything is in my program, "The Act gives everyone the right to recognize his marriage by the signing of PACS. Ceremonies confirmation PACS will be held in city hall por couples and families who wish to give these signatures solemnity and recognition which they are entitled. "

Gagli - What actions against homophobia (in everyday life, work, ...) and discrimination will lead you in Orleans if you are elected?

JPS - Again, I invite you to take in-verbatim what is in my program, They are firm commitments, "the city will support the actions of associations in the fight against discrimination: sexist, racist, xenophobic or homophobic. It will contribute to raising awareness organized by these associations in schools, recreation centers and cultural centers and sports. "

Gagli - How and what role for the city in the prevention of sexually transmitted infections, AIDS and hepatitis?

JPS - I intend to create health centers, the permanence of care to respond to that emergencies are not really. One of them will be located at the hospital door when Madeleine everything will be repatriated to The Source.
It is important to develop information about STIs, AIDS and hepatitis. It is a point in my program too. I also, as a senator asked a question to the Minister (Written Question No. 03,095 of Mr. Jean-Pierre Sueur published in the OJ Senate 17/01/2008) on the risks of infection by HIV among gay men.

Your health project'm gay and I support. I am in the early months of the mandate to facilitate access to rooms so that the grants can be used in 2008.

Lesbians and gays in the workplace: the right not to hide

Sunday, 18 November 2007

The right not to hide at work or in terms of access to work is an important right, because it is a personality right, ie that the law stems both from the individual and its social and economic existence.

But the civil code, labor law or the status of the civil service do not!

Yet:
The Civil Code (Article 9): "Everyone has the right to respect for his privacy"
The law of 31 December 1992 recognizes "the facts relating to privacy of the employee can not justify a refusal to hire"
The Labor Code states (Article L122-35): "Freedom of the worker can not be reduced arbitrarily"

But the manifestations of discrimination based on sexual orientation at work are still present and take several forms:

Refusal of employment, dismissal, lack of promotion,
Harassment: jokes, innuendo, gossip, outing, insults and bullying ...
Benefits denied to same-sex partner,
Self-exclusion of gays and lesbians from certain jobs.

The result is a self gays and lesbians, homophobia caused by passive structures and professional actors, this self-censorship, harassment and other such bullying may lead to ill-being, a devaluation of the self-image, stress and depression, which are determinants of health gay.

The right not to hide in general and the right not to hide at work in particular, the right to visibility. This can be understood as a double right. The right to be equal in law with all other citizens, and to be equal by law in this period where equality is not yet achieved in all areas. The right to visibility can also raise the tolerance of homosexuality accepted the recognition ... the right to the visibility is an essential component of health gay!

To speak, to learn about the rights and duties of employees and employers on the legal protection measures, to know what is done and reflect on what remains to be done, GROUPE GAY AND LESBIAN ACTION LOIRET organize a conference debate

Gay health: screening "walls off" among homosexuals

depistage prise de sang 2 The association has been working for over 8 years to reduce sexual risks among homosexuals. More recently we have chosen our affiliations to a more holistic approach to health: health gay (being gay, lesbian, bi and trans be in his skin, does not suffer from homophobia in his entourage, work, fight against isolation, loneliness, alcohol and sexual relations at risk of HIV transmission).

We previously broadcast condoms at the scene of gay-friendliness. This summer we were on the naturist beach of Sandillon attended not only by gay men but also by heterosexual couples and swingers bisexual.
gagl aides chr orleans espace convivial 2 Today, despite the decline in appropriations fight against AIDS, we must be more imaginative, and we maintain the presence of the prevention measures homosexual.

Following the recommendations of the National AIDS in November 2006 to bring the screening of homosexual people and a strong partnership with the Association AID and the Center for Free and anonymous testing of CHR Orleans (agreement signed recently), the Group Action gay and lesbian loiret regularly during the summer screening "walls off" on the naturist beach Gay. Under a tent confidential, a hospital nurse proceeded, as in a classical CDAG, a confidential, anonymous and charges at the request of those blood samples for HIV testing but also hepatitis A, B, C and the syphilis.

Relocate Center Free and anonymous testing, it has already seen. But it is on a gay beach, or scene at the end of a nightclub on an evening e ASTROLABE to (as in March 2007) or in a sauna, in contact with the public and in partnership This is a first in France.

Pending the validation of rapid tests by the French authorities and a memorandum of use and delivery of results, in particular, to avoid any possible abuse of a clumsy announcement of the disease, it is appropriate on this action to seek CDAG its results. It should be noted that people outside Orleans who are tracking on the beach can withdraw their results CDAG closest to their homes across France.
However, an assessment will be made of action to link with our partners. We will not hesitate in getting results for our institutional and financial (GRSP).

When LGBT health rhymes with welfare in Orleans and in the Loiret

Sunday 22 July 2007

suicide gays For seventeen years, the Gay and Lesbian Action Loiret (Gagli) continues its work locally for the visibility and recognition of LGBT people, organizing forums for reflection and friendliness, in friendly and support, actively engaging in the fight against AIDS and STIs in involved in local events and engaged citizens in Orleans and in the department.

Reflecting on these past shows they have a common goal: to fight against evil-being of some people, this ill-being is directly linked to the difficulty to live their homosexuality. Indeed, loneliness, isolation, emotional insecurity because of sexual orientation, HIV status or age, cause - recent studies have shown - addictions, the risk-taking, suicide often situations ... (too) often encountered in the field, where the Gagli conducts its activities throughout the year, for eight years. The Gagli therefore decided to consolidate all its forces in an effort to work towards a more general theme of "gay health".

Remember last March, the association "The Wooden Bat" does not s'ys'était erred in accepting the invitation of warm Gagli. They went Fifty of Paris, attracted by this evening PLUG, the Orléanais came two cents to Astroclub ... A party where everyone behaved according to his desires without fear looks and judgments, a party where men wore wigs and maquillés dresses and women wore beard, mustache and chaps! A moment in which we felt good, in agreement with you ... and with the others! Debauchery rhinestones to fight against stress, debauchery of music and looks for a sense of well-being ... The opinions converge. Also a moment of reflection looking at the various performances on stage: wacky and surprising, they can bring meaning to the word "gender", so often used so often hackneyed and so often remains obscure to many.
Time for an evening, there was worry about his health with a free and anonymous testing for HIV, hepatitis and syphilis. One of the few times in France where it is proposed outside the walls of a hospital in a festive and through the Regional Hospital of Orleans who sent on this occasion and for the duration of the evening, a doctor and a nurse, and pledged to keep available the results of CDAG persons of their choice, of course under conditions of confidentiality to anonymous testing centers and free.

Mindful of the recommendations of the National AIDS Council in November 2006, the Gagli engages in partnerships approaches to permit its members to be trained at home and work for "gay health" with all stakeholders health and prevention (suicide, addictions, AIDS ...) while retaining its specificity homosexual.

In 2006, Gagli signed an agreement with SOS Homophobia to be able to respond to any request for assistance and support. In 2007, Gagli has signed an agreement with AID Loiret to use all means to fight against the AIDS epidemic in the Loiret.
And a few days ago, the Gagli has signed an agreement with the CHR Orleans to officially register the partnership of the Center for anonymous testing and free in the actions of gay health.

This summer, and Gagli AID offers on a naturist beach, information, documentation, condoms (male, female) and freeze. The CHR Orleans provides staff to run for the first time in France, a mobile screening center at a place of gay and bi-friendliness, under the same conditions as CDAG the hospital.
We will talk soon.
