Homophobia: justice sends now in prison breakers queers

Tuesday, 16 May 2006

Here is a dispatch AFP that under the 2nd day of global fight against homophobia will support the radio about the President of the Gay and Lesbian action in the Loiret antenna NRJ ORLEANS.

By Laurence BOUTREUX
PARIS, May 16, 2006 (AFP)

The courts no longer hesitate to send to jail those who attack homosexuals for "breaking the fag", highlight organizations during the day against Homophobia Wednesday.

In the spring, in Orleans, two men of 20 and 22 years have not borne of two other young men kissing on the chassis of a bus they were treated "dirty queers" before the strike ... The court has convicted last week to six months in prison. "
This is new: the victims and associations that support them are better regarded by the courts, said Alain Piriou the association of lesbian, gay, bi and trans. In the 1990s, it was very difficult to be taken seriously by the police: he had to justify to be homosexual, to use the Minitel or be on a gay drag ... "
Since then, changes in procedure and criminal law have occurred. "The punishment for a crime when the offense is committed because of sexual orientation of the victim have been aggravated (Law of 18 March 2003). "The police behaves better with the victims, no doubt, Judge Alain Piriou, and the aggravating circumstance of a homophobic attack been a real investigation."
In Marseilles in April, six teenagers aged 14 to 16 years were sentenced to imprisonment (2 to 12 months) for the attack on a gay student, David Gros, who had been insulted and assaulted with blows motorcycle helmet and an iron bar. "Young people have not flown condemned the sentences because they were of unprecedented violence, but the adults around them have a responsibility, said lawyer David Gros, Alain Molla. The penalty actually reveals the failures of education: family, school, you learn to respect difference. "

At the head of the association SOS Homophobia, Flannan Obe judge that "homosexuality is more freedom of the city", "caricaturée it is less than before." But his association has received "131 testimonies of homosexuals physically attacked in 2005 (148 in 2004)." Maybe people who do not, so far, the need to go "to break the fag" Because the company itself was homophobic, suddenly feel threatened, advance Flannan Obe. In their minds, it is as if homosexuals took place too suddenly, out of shame and silence. While some problems in rectifiers wrongs, as if homosexuals were a race for them to fight. "

Tuesday, Sept. educational organizations in the world - Ferca-CGT, FSU, SGEN-CFDT, UNSA-Education, CIPF, UNEF and UNL - insisted on "the need to involve the school to educate respect for diversity."

The vice-president of the League of Human Rights (LDH) Salemkour Malik stressed the same idea: "If we are to prevent attacks and suicide many gay, Education must take into account the issue sexual orientation as a part of life and questioning youth. "In the fight against homophobia, the record of this government is pretty good law enforcement but no one in the prevention," also finds Alain Piriou.

Thursday, 20 April 2006

TÃ © testimony Hello all,

My name is David, I am one of two victims of homophobic aggression, and I am speaking in my name as that of my friend.

We wanted to personally thank you for your messages of support we go to the heart, to be moved en masse to the immediate, and all others who could not move, but were with us by thought.
The detention of the two attackers is a real relief for both of us, although we have always in mind that no decision had yet been made and no verdict.

The fact that we feel surrounded is something that we can hold out, and for that we wanted to say a big thank you to all.

Regards to all,

David
