Sunday, 9 September 2007

Mr. MAX is a fiction of quality paints a portrait of "penitent Saint-Benoit-sur-Loire." Jean-Claude Brialy (which is the last major role on the screen) embodies simplicity and emotion with this character which he has captured the tenderness, fragility and strength of creation. Gay, Jewish birth, enlightened by faith, he converted to Catholicism (Picasso is his godfather). After living in Paris, crucible of modern art, Jacob retired to St. Benedict for the first time from 1921 to 1927, then permanently in 1936. He will be arrested by the Gestapo on 24 February 1944 and led to Drancy, where he died on March 5. Max Jacob is an important artist. He leaves the art of the twentieth century paintings and literary forefront as evidenced by the prestigious collections of the Media and the Museum of Fine Arts in Orleans.
